Joseph Grainger was born cir. 1813 at Worcester, England.1 He married Ann Burden on 11 Aug 1835 in Claines, Worcester, England.3,4,1,5 Joseph Grainger died aft. 1881 ?Ombersley, Droitwich, Worcestershire, England.1,6
Joseph was initially a Grainger in the right timeframe in the right place who happened to have some children with rather distinctive names that caught my fancy so I documented what I found in the hope that there was a connection to Peter.
Subsequent to that, a descendant in Illinois has popped out of the woodwork with an inherited family tree that shows Joseph as brother of Peter's Daniel. I have not verified this, but the few family members I have checked show the dates in the tree to be accurate.7

The census of 1861 showed Joseph with his wife Ann, their sons Ebissa and Oswin, their dtrs Julia and Quendrid at 16 High St, Ward of All Saints, Par. of St Helen, Worcestershire, England, enumerated as GRAINGER: Joseph 48 grocer etc b Worcester; wife Ann 48 b London; Dtr Julia 12; Son Ebissa 10;(next page) Son Oswin 7 all scholars b Worcester; Dtr Quendrid 4 b Worcester; Apprentices: Edwin Morris 16 b Gloucester; George STANLEY 14 b Alcester, WOR; Servant Jane PLUMB 17 b Claines, Worcester.9
