Oct 18 1942 nee Green.3
     He appeared on the census of 1851 at 16 High St, Worcester St Helens, Worcestershire, England, as son of Joseph Grainger; GRANGER: Joseph 38 grocer & tallow chandler, b Worcester; wife Ann 38 b St Lukes, London; Children: Sarah 11, Canute 5, Julia 2, Ebissa (M) 6 mths all b St Helens, Worcester; Apprentice: HOBSON; Servant: CHARLES.7
     Canute Grainger appeared on the census of 1861 in the Broad St & High St, Pershore, Worcestershire, England, enumerated as Canute GRAINGER, "son" (but no head of household, only 2 unm servants) grocer's son, b Worcester St Helens.8 He immigrated cir. 1867 to to Nebraska, USA; where he presumably met his English born wife Frances. I've not yet found a marriage in England, but they obviously returned as two of the middle children were born Worcester, with the other known children before and after, being born in Nebraska.6

     Canute Grainger appeared on the census of 24 Jun 1885 in Unadilla, Otoe Co, Nebraska, USA, with Frances Grainger, enumerated as GRANGER: Canute 39, Frances 28, both b ENG; Children (assumed): Oswald 10 b NE; Egbert 9, Winnefred 7 both b ENG; Constance 6, Canute 1 both b NE.10
